What are perioral wrinkles?
Perioral wrinkles also called smoker lines or barcodes lip-lines are those vertical wrinkles that appear around the lips, more often above the upper lip.
The causes of these wrinkles are added: excessive smoking, dehydration, frequent sun exposure and loss of lip volume with the aging process.
What is the procedure?
The procedure is performed under local anesthesia with anesthetic cream so that the patient does not have any discomfort and consists in injecting hyaluronic acid at the level of the perioral wrinkles to fill.
Depending on the depth of the wrinkles and their dynamics, this procedure can be combined with the injection of botulinum toxin to relax the muscles in the area.

Side effects
Possible side effects include:
• bruising at the injection site
• edema (swelling) of the injected area that may persist for several days
• redness
• hematomas at the injection site
Recommendations before the procedure
• alcohol consumption should be avoided
• NSAIDs - non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (paracetamol, ibuprofen) should not be given before treatment

Post-procedure recommendations
• Avoid exposure to solarium, sun, sauna and intense cold about a week after injection

• do not apply makeup on the injected area for 24 hours
• no other cosmetic or dental procedures will be performed in the next two weeks
